About Tilt & Turn
Tilt & turn windows use a single handle to switch between two opening modes. Turned one way, the sash tilts inward from the top, leaving a narrow gap at the bottom for ventilation without leaving the window fully open. Turned further, the whole sash swings inward like a door, useful for cleaning the outside glass from inside or for a full-width opening.
Because the tilt position doesn't leave the window fully open, it's a common choice where security or child safety near an open window matters, while still allowing airflow.
